| | | I was fortunate enough to get hold of an N80 the other week, after a few days i decided to invest in a new 1Gb Mini SD card for it, as the 128mb provided soon filled up with my rubbish! I bought one only to find the phone rejected it with " memory card corrupted" warning, i was lucky enough to live in the same city as the seller so i arranged to meet and he brought another one, a Kingston the same as the first, however this caused the same error message. We formatted the card on his laptop and added an image however the N80 just refused to accept the card... i'm now wondering wether its the phone and if so is it a known issue, anyone heard of this or help me out? cheers

| Posted 6/16/2006 2:32 PM | | | I am having the same problem with the MobyMemory 2GB mini SD that I brought to use with my new N80 which I got yesterday. It seems to work intermittently with no obvious cause. One minute it's working fine the next I get "memory card corrupted" message or "no memory card". Then it works again!! Anyone got any ideas/solutions? |

I am using Mobymemory 2gb. I format the card on my pc and it is fine. I copy files over and it is ok. I insert it into my phone and it works for a while and then gets corrupted. Sometime I can format using the phone but most of the time I need to format it on my pc again.
It is driving me crazy.
What applications are you using ? I am using smartmovie and copying a few files over which work.
So it is either 1.) The phone 2.) the card 3.) the application
at the moment I think it is the phone.
I am using 3.017.0.6 firmware. |
| Posted 6/16/2006 5:32 PM | | | Hmm, i'm leaning towards this being another of Nokia's famous faults, releasing handsets without beta testing them first and letting the general public find all the faults ofor them! It cant be the memory in all honesty as its more than me suffering the problem. I'm not even getting to the point where i can use any applications, upon inserting the card into my reader it refuses to format saying the disc is write protected, can't be thid though as theres no way i could have write protected it without knowing... its a bit of a puzzle - if its the phone then why does it play up on my pc? I have a 128mb nokia card thats worked prefectly for a few weeks... i dunno, i suppose i should go back to my trusty 8310!

| Posted 6/20/2006 12:24 PM | | | I have given up with the MobyMemory 2GB card as it does not appear to be compatible with the N80 and from looking on various forums neither do the SanDisk cards. Having looked on the Nokia forum I have purchased an Adata 2GB mini SD card (60x) which seems to work fine. It's been ok for a day now, will keep you posted. PS my N80 is on Orange purchased in June 2006 firmware v 3.0617.06 03-05-2006 |
| Posted 6/20/2006 3:59 PM | | | Hmm, i know this sounds thick but where do i find out my firmware version on my phone? Its a sim free unlocked handset. please let me know how the Adapta card goes, i have tried both sandisk and kingston and both have given me problems, many thanks for all the replies and help - i am not alone! cheers

| Posted 6/29/2006 12:14 AM | | | Hey, I am first timer and im a bit nervous (Metro Radio - Alan Robsons Night Owls) AndyB just wondering how the Adata 2GB mini SD card is still holding up? and have you installed any jar/jad or sis applications directly from the card and installed to the card? I have a Mobymemory 2Gb card for my N80, which is working fine, until i want to install any jar/jad files while the card is in the phone. The installation gets to about 90%, stops and gives the error "unable to install". However, if move the installation file to the phone memory remove the card (or use the original Orange card) then install it to the phone memory or the orange card it works fine. I have tested this with over several jad/jar files all with the same result. I have firmware 3.0614.0.3 |
| Posted 6/29/2006 6:45 AM | | | It seems that i have had the same sucess as the previous user with the Adata card, i got the 512mb one the other day and up to now its playing ball - Noika refuse to admit theres a glitch with the phone when using Kingston and Sandisk cards and have referred me to my local dealer for a firmware upgrade, should it be needed...as of yet i havent installed any .jar or .sisx files - will try it tlater today and let you know however upto now the new card is perforimg brill!
