Posted 1/20/2007 12:21 PM | | | I have a mobymemory 2GB mini-SD card which worked for a couple of days in my Nokia N73 during which time I transfered music. Then my nokia said that the card needed to be formatted. Which I allowed the phone to do. Since then my phone doesn't recognise that the memory card is in the phone. I then purchased a mini card reader which arrived this morning from MobyMemory. My pc recognises the card reader but can't find the memory card inside. I have tried the instructions listed via the pc but the card may as well not be there as the pc is not finding it at all. I have emailed for a refund but just thought I would try the forum in case I have missed something. Thanks |

Finally I try a card on Qtek S200 and works well. I sell that card. Now, I have a 2gb Sandisk Ultra II on N73, without any problem. Try to change the card for a Sandisk, because the MM card doesn´t work well with N73 and N80, at least. |

Ive had enough I won't settle for anything less than a Sandisk now!. When we analyse the card responses to commands it's returning corrupt responses. It's not generally realised that memory cards have firmware on them as they are based on NAND technology and have to translate requests. My best guess is that the internal bad block manager has become corrupt. The card itself is probably recoverable, though not with things like format, chkdsk etc. Each manufacturer has a reset command that will reset the firmware. |

| Posted 3/21/2007 2:26 PM | | | | Yep same here this card has died on me. Won't work on N73 or using the usb reader on mac and pc. inserting the card will just lock up the appliance. To add to my troubles tech support haven't returned any of my calls in a week. |
| Posted 10/23/2007 10:27 AM | | | | Hi, Well, I had a 512mb micro SD card in my phone Nokia5500 recently. When I wanted to transfer files to my phone, i always had to use a card reader. I downloaded some themes for my phone, and when i inserted the card back to my phone, there weren't any themes to intstall... there were nothing but some files that i have transfered before. I was really confused and when i connected the card back to the computer, there were nothing in there. I formatted the card when Windows asked me to, and after that Windows couldn't recognize the card and it even says that there isn't any card. My phone phone doest even recognize it, but says the memory card was corrupted. It became unformattable and unrecognized. LATER... i heard that IT WAS WRONG TO FORMAT A MEMORY CARD ON WINDOWS.... IT DESTROYS EVERYTHING ON THE CARD THAT THE CARD BECOMES UNRECOGNIZED, AND UNRECOGNIZED CARDS CAN'T BE FORMATTED. DOES ANYONE HAVE SOLUTION OR WAYS TO REPAIR THIS CARD??? |
| Posted 10/23/2007 11:32 AM | | | | It's fine format your card on Windows, just make sure you use FAT16. btw I've had no troubles with the Sandisk |
| Posted 10/24/2007 5:11 AM | | | | well there were no such things as FAT16 when i formatted it there were FAT and FAT32... I read from a forum that Windows destroys the necessary files needed to recognize the card directly from the card reader... what softwares are used to repair unrecognized and currupted Micro SD card??? Does anyone know?? |
| Posted 10/24/2007 9:34 AM | | | "FAT" is either FAT12, FAT16 or FAT32. For a 2GB card, Windows will use FAT16 if you select "FAT" . FAT12 don't stretch to 2GB, the N73 doesn't use FAT32. I have formatted my card several times from Windows & its fine. I have also formatted 2xmicroSD 2GB SanDisk cards regularly from XP using FAT and they are fine also. |
| Posted 11/4/2007 8:35 AM | | | | Hey Robert, I now know that there were some virus in my MicroSD card called "sxs.exe" i think this is what caused my memory card to corrupt. Do you what the hell is "sxs.exe" thing? It is unable to open and unusable application file i think. Now i still could't get my Memory card fixed up... Maybe i should by a new one for my 5500 right? |
